Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is known to have a pedagogical approach to education which expects rigorous academic focus while allowing the pursuit of extracurricular interests, such as sports.
We impart the CBSE curriculum with the right balance of learning and sensitivity to the students' non-academic needs. Maths, Sciences and Languages form the core subjects of this curriculum, and it involves a continuous and comprehensive evaluation system that stresses on performance standards.
Cambridge Primary is designed for 5 to 11 year olds. The curriculum helps develop skills in ten subjects including Maths, Science and Languages. The end goal is to make students confident and responsible learners who are able to reflect on their learning, engage in the process of knowledge gathering and ultimately be innovative.
The Cambridge Primary testing structure assesses learner performance, and reports progress to students and parents.
Our programme for primary years is designed to be a joyful experience for students between 5 to 12 years, an age where physical and mental growth is accelerated and all encompassing.
At this critical juncture, our faculty step in to identify, nurture and grow the students academic and non-academic interests in such a way that information passed to them is measured and engaging, making the learning of the rigorous CBSE curriculum a fun and joyful experience.
Our academic teaching methodology can be compared to a spiral structure which rises up in a systematic manner, as well as burrowing deeper down. This concept - of rising higher and going deep - has been adopted in our academic structure which gives our students a good balance between imagination and understanding.
Our academic add-ons are programmes that give additional boosts to a student's learning curve through targeted studies, helping them focus on additional areas and concepts at no extra cost.
We provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) related material that helps students understand key concepts in the subject by creating working models of these concepts; use online tools like HeyMath! to hone their mathematical skills and conduct detailed assessments through which the teachers understand every child’s strengths and weakness in particular subjects.
For our students, the rigour of academics is well-balanced by proper exposure to sports through extracurricular activities, physical education and Gold Squad.
Sports is taken very seriously from a young age. Students are encouraged to take up one sport of their liking in their ECA. Their performance is scrutinised thoroughly by the coaches, who help identify talents in various sports and encourage them to join our specialised Gold Squad Programme.
Students go through a number of assessments in a year
• For Grade 1 and 2, there are four assessments in the form of tests. Answer sheets are marked with grades.
• For Grade 3 to 5, there are two major assessments in September and March - termed half yearly and yearly assessments. They also have two periodic tests in May and November.
There are also bite-sized assessments conducted in class after each concept (like quizzes, group projects or short tests).
We make sure that parents are involved in the education and growth of their children at every step.
All information about the student is shared with the parent through our customised portal - myGIIS - which acts as a communication platform between the two sides.
Newsletters and emails are sent periodically, while each parental query is responded to within 24 hours – unless it is punctuated by a weekend, public holiday or vacation.
Over and above academic excellence, our award-winning 9GEMS framework promotes values like discipline, creativity, sportsmanship, leadership and respect – many based on universally admired teachings.
This enriched learning experience helps develop our students into refined, morally upstanding citizens of the world; and better prepares them for the myriad challenges of their adult lives.
An array of events and activities all year round provide our students a platform to showcase their skills, as well as keep them engaged and involved in many social events like sports, arts, services etc.
Our 9GEMS(TM) holistic learning framework also emphasises the need to organise age-appropriate events to allow students to explore inherent talents from sports excellence, to performing arts, to entrepreneurship and community service.
