When we ask the question whether Kuala Lumpur has good schools, we have to remember that we are referring to a city that is nothing less than a world city. Though it came into global prominence after the release of the Sean Connery movie Entrapment that had showcased the Petronas Towers, the city has always been a global business and tourist destination.

To imagine that there are no good high schools there, or for that matter no  worthwhile international schools in  Kuala Lumpur is not justified.

As a matter of fact Kuala Lumpur has some outstanding high schools, many of which are international schools of global pedigree. The schools of Kuala Lumpur are quite well regarded in the region and there are a number of reasons for that. Let’s take a look at the reasons that make schools of Kuala Lumpur well regarded:

1. Kuala Lumpur a major city  in the region has schools to match

Kuala Lumpur is not only the biggest city in Malaysia, apart from being its capital, it is also one of the fastest growing metropolises in Southeast Asia, both in terms of its population growth and the level of economic development. It goes without saying that a place like that would have educational infrastructure that matches this growth.

2. Large number of expats living in Kuala Lumpur vouch for the schools

There are a whopping 3.5 million expats living in Kuala Lumpur and it was rated at the second place as the best city to settle in Asia in the Expat City Ranking 2019. This would not have been possible without the city boasting of an outstanding education infrastructure that is capable of catering to the needs of expat children. With expats contributing so majorly to the city’s economy, one would expect that the city would take care of the expats and their families.

3. Kuala Lumpur is known for the high standards of its infrastructure including state of the art schools

Kuala Lumpur is one of the better developed countries in Asia and this is certainly true of its infrastructure, which is quite good. There is also a conscious awareness of the need for constantly upgrading it and all necessary steps are taken for that. Great schools and educational institutions are an integral part of this push for better and better infrastructure and this reflects in the sheer range of schools that one finds in the city.

4. Many Schools that cater to the needs of expats

Considering the fact that expats are such an integral part of Kuala Lumpur, there are all kinds of international schools run by some of the most globally well known educational institutions from around the world. Such schools teach the expat children  according to the syllabus they would have followed back home and also offer international programs like International Baccalaureate.

Not just that, the infrastructure, facilities and faculty employed in such schools is usually out of the top drawer.

Conclusion

The very fact that Kuala Lumpur is one of the most sought after destinations for expats to settle in anywhere in the world should tell you that it would not lack in something as important as good schools for children to study at. Most of its high schools and international schools boast an excellent standard of education as well as top class infrastructure.

What is especially good about receiving an education in Kuala Lumpur is the fact that one does so in a very empowering global environment. That ensures that the students who pass out from these schools form a modern global outlook towards life. Not only are the schools in the city quite good, the living standards in Kuala Lumpur are quite high too making it a great city to grow up in. Malaysia is intrinsically a multicultural and multicarial society and the fact that it now has  a fair number of expats living there makes it a glorious country to live in.

That is the reason why people from across the world are happy to come to Kuala Lumpur to work, live and educate their children. Going forward one can expect the city to grow and consolidate its reputation as a great Asian city to come to in order to enjoy both its great beauty and take advantage of the great economic development.

As far as the high schools of Kuala Lumpur are concerned, they will continue to evolve and provide education that is out of the top drawer, like it always has. Whether one comes from the UK, Australia, USA, Singapore or India, there will be an International school for one’s child in Kuala Lumpur that is just right for him or her. If you have been thinking of making a move to Kuala Lumpur but were hesitant on account of the kind of schooling your children would have access to, you now know that you have nothing to worry about. See you there soon!
